Have you ever had a pair of jeans that you just don’t want to lose? The ones that are comfortable and lightweight? The ones that you just feel good in? If you have, then you’ll understand the need for this blog post.
The Miracle
As they say, “Necessity breeds innovation.” I NEED my jeans, so when they get a hole in them, I need to patch them. The problem: I barely qualify as a beginner sewer. That doesn’t stop me, because even though the zipper on these jeans doesn’t stay up and the hems are starting to wear, they DO make my butt look good. And that’s a miracle, ladies and gentlemen. Miracle jeans. Holy jeans, literally. As of today, they have about 5 holes, but they’re still hangin’ in there.
Show Yourself
So, how does a beginner sewer patch her miracle jeans? By avoiding the rules of sewing and doing what she wants in the quickest, easiest way possible. I call it the “Primitive Patch”. There are 3 major benefits to the Primitive Patch. 1) it’s beginner-proof 2) it’s fun and FUNKY and, 3) it’s a scrap buster. By using certain fabrics, you can create a hippie/boho style that’s all your own and it takes little more effort than sewing in a circle. You can thank me later.
Let the TLC Inspirations’ YouTube Channel show you how it’s done:
