{Autumn} Beauty in the Change

Your beauty lies in your roots, relentless, like a crying baby, not recognizing direction,
never finding your boundaries, but reaching still. Strong; steadfast, only deviating
from your path to bypass the debris, as you bend & shift in your new colors .
As the cold takes hold of your insides, will you only submit to sleep?

Nature’s Dance

Nature’s Dance

The stars cast a gentle warmth around me,

seducing my spirit away

to forgotten seasons.

Longing to be there…

twirling in the moon’s essence.

Memories caress fleeting thoughts,

as layers of dandelions and cherry blossoms

pierce the twilight hours.

Propped up against the porch railing,

thoughts slowly diminish,

leaves rustle delicately against the breeze,

and I swear I can hear the moonlight reaching for the grass below.

Crickets chirp in peaceful rhythm

with a confidence I’d never noticed.

The cool air grazes my face,

reminding me of little girl indulgences…

staring straight up into the clouds

and recklessly spinning in circles,

dew-speckled grass wetting my toes,

I turn to climb that weeping willow high enough to

conquer the shadows.
